Intenze Light Grey Sumi - Japaneze Tattoo Ink 12oz

Inspired by the traditional art of Sumi ink painting and calligraphy, where artists grind solid ink sticks (Sumi) on an ink stone with water to create rich, expressive tones. These ink sticks, typically crafted from pine or oil soot and bound with animal glue (Nikawa), produce a smooth, grey ink known for its depth and character. While pre-made inks exist, they often lack the quality and nuance of hand-ground Sumi.

Many Sumi sticks are also beautifully adorned with bas-relief designs of landscapes or flowers, sometimes accented with gold, an art form in themselves.
